
Dubai Tops Regional Rankings Again and Secures 8th Place Globally in the “Global Cities Power index”
For the second consecutive year, Dubai has been ranked first in the region and eighth globally in the “Global Cities Power Index 2024,” released by the Urban Strategies Institute of the Mori Memorial Foundation in Japan. This achievement places Dubai ahead of renowned cities like Berlin, Madrid, Shanghai, Copenhagen, and Melbourne.
The annual report evaluates 48 leading cities worldwide based on their ability to attract talent, creative organizations, investments, and capital. The evaluation covers 70 indicators across six key areas: economy, research and development, cultural interaction, livability, environment, and ease of access.
Outstanding Achievements in Key Categories
- Accessibility: Dubai ranked fourth globally for its accessibility, which considers factors like international freight movement, the number of travelers arriving and departing through city airports, flight connectivity, efficient public transport, and ease of using taxis or bicycles.
- Cultural Interaction: The city secured fifth place globally in cultural interaction, which looks at foreign resident numbers, annual tourist arrivals, iconic attractions, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural festivals, and international conferences.
- Economy: Dubai ranked 15th globally in the economy category, which assesses aspects such as GDP, GDP per capita, stock market performance, skilled workforce availability, wage levels, corporate tax rates, and the overall business climate.

Global Competitors
After Seoul, Amsterdam, and Dubai, Berlin and Madrid secured the ninth and tenth spots, respectively. The subsequent rankings included Shanghai, Copenhagen, Melbourne, Stockholm, Vienna, Beijing, Sydney, Hong Kong, Barcelona, and Zurich in 20th place.
Further down the list were Dublin, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Toronto, San Francisco, Brussels, Chicago, Geneva, Helsinki, Taipei, Milan, Istanbul, Boston, Moscow, and Osaka. The rankings concluded with Vancouver, Washington, D.C., Tel Aviv, Bangkok, São Paulo, Kuala Lumpur, Fukuoka, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Jakarta, Cairo, Johannesburg, and Mumbai at the bottom.
